Good morning everyone! It has been a little while since I posted here. I would love to continue writing my blog, I have received some amazing feedback from everyone and I really appreciate it. I would like to announce that recently I had been really lost with my passion and purpose. I reached the end of my Freshman year of college broken and burnt out. Earlier this year, I had applied for the Riot Games Internship and did not get it. This moment was one of the most soul crushing experiences of my life. Granted, I knew that there were thousands of entries, it still hit me in an unexpected way. That had been one of the big reasons I began spiraling into creative burnout and felt like my work was never going to be enough. Crushed, I pushed forward and continued to try and grow myself by learning everyday and began finding ways to always be improving. Months later, is when a good friend of mine Lucas Durham had told me about an Illustration camp known as Illustration Intensive. This workshop is hosted by Jeff, and Silvia Miracola. I knew deep down in my heart that I was missing one of my favorite parts about art which was focusing on a painting for hours at a time. I decided that I was going to do everything in my power to try and attend this camp. Luckily, my grandma had left behind money to her grand kids for education allowing me to make it to this years workshop. This workshop was one of the best experiences of my life. It challenged my views on the capabilities we all have as humans.
Following that workshop, an anonymous donor put forward money towards a student scholarship for Illustration Intensive 2020. I had submitted my work and statement, and to my surprise I had received the full ride scholarship! My point with this whole story is, we are going to face so many unexpected challenges. The trials and tribulations of life are unknown. You may think you are meant to follow a certain path, but all of a sudden you go somewhere you never expected. This is both the scariest and most beautiful thing about life. Whatever you are pursuing in life right now, I dare you to keep going, dream bigger, and take risks. Most importantly, do not be afraid to fail.
